Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) disclosed that it is launching two additions to its Fire Tablet line up. While Fire 7 will have features like a thinner and lighter design besides an improved 7” IPS display, Fire HD 8 is a next generation product having features like 8” HD display with more than one million pixels, a maximum of 12-hour battery life, a quad-core processor and 16 GB storage with an option to extend to a maximum of 256 GB.
Amazon revealed that both the versions of Fire tablets would be available for pre-order commencing today. The device will have Alexa apart from the rest of the features likfe Wi-Fi connectivity and expandable storage. The pricing of Fire 7 is about $49.99 whereas Fire 8 will cost about $79.99.
The online retailer’s GM for fire tablets, Kevin Keith, commented, “Our approach is to offer premium products at non-premium prices. The all-new Fire 7 is thinner and lighter, offers an improved display, longer battery life, and better Wi-Fi connectivity—while keeping the same low price of $49.99. For only $30 more, the all-new Fire HD 8 offers a vibrant 8″ HD widescreen display, up to 12 hours of battery life, faster performance, and 16 GB of storage. Plus, both tablets include Alexa—it’s an incredible value we think customers will love.”
Amazon revealed that its latest models of Fire Tablet will have durability, front and rear-facing cameras, screen sharing, global content ecosystem and new color options. The tablets will have Quad-core 1.3 GHz processor that could quickly and easily switch between apps.
At time of writing this, Amazon shares are trading down 0.78 percent.
